BEFORE & AFTER n°10 - GUEST BEDROOM

BEFORE

When decorating your home, the guest bedroom is often an afterthought. After all, why put your favorite pieces in the room you’ll visit the least? When you start to plan your guest room, think about where you would like to stay when you are away from home. Preparing for and hosting house guests can be a very enjoyable experience. There's something satisfying about helping your visitors feel especially welcome and comfortable.

And this brings us to our new task: redesigning a small, 13,7m2 mansard guest bedroom that lacked personality, color and texture.

INSPIRATION

The customer wished for a bright and clean guest bedroom that gives a homey feeling to its temporary inhabitants. Therefore we opted for a bright, earthy colour scheme with a neutral base of beige and gray tones and enhanced with some mustard and dusty pink accents. Material wise we decided for all natural materials - wood, linen, cotton and ratan.

AFTER

The bed is now positioned in the middle of the lower wall, which makes the room more functional as the bed can be now used easily by two and at the same time. While a place to put luggage makes inhabiting your guest room more convenient, you don’t want to force your guests to live out of their suitcases. Therefore we provided some basic pieces of furniture: a drawer and clothing rack. On the opposite wall to the bed there is a composition of colourful prints and a round mirror that bring a dynamic touch.
